How do EZpop and EZwop work?
In JDE, a file system folder is configured as the output destination for Purchase Order and Work Order print-to-PDF jobs. EZpop and EZwop run on the JDE or another server as a Windows Service or Scheduled Task, or on Linux as a daemon, and regularly check for new orders to process.
When a new order is detected, the relevant utility extracts its number from the filename and queries the JDE database for related Media Objects. The attachments are appended to create a single package ready for printing and, where configured, emailing or archiving.
How do EZcreate and EZnotes work?
Users send emails to a dedicated mailbox. The structured subject line includes a Work Order type and description for EZcreate, or a Work Order number for EZnotes.
EZcreate creates a new Work Order and adds associated Media Objects. EZnotes adds Text Media Objects from the email body, including inline images, and File Media Objects from email attachments to the existing Work Order.
Why use EZpop or EZwop? What is Office automation?
Some approaches to JDE order processing use "helper" desktop applications on the JDE server. Office automation means running Office desktop applications unattended and non-interactively; Microsoft does not recommend or support that model.
EZsuite products do not depend on "helper" applications or Office automation for unattended operation.
Does JDE need configuration for EZpop or EZwop?
A JDE Report Definition must be configured for a standard Purchase Order or Work Order naming pattern, and a destination file path specified for print output.
The Report Definition (RD) will generally require a new Data Dictionary item (DD) and Data Structure (DSTR) to be configured.
Are EZsuite products secure?
Sensitive configuration data, including database and email credentials, is secured using a block-cipher encryption algorithm.
What file types do EZsuite products support?
Supported file types include PDF, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook MSG files; RTF and CSV; and a broad range of image formats including BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, SVG and TIFF, including multi-page TIFF.
Supported content can also be handled as a database BLOB, as a byte stream from a URL, or a memory stream from the file system.
Which Media Object stores are supported?
EZpop and EZwop can handle Media Objects stored in the JDE database as BLOBs, the file system, Microsoft SharePoint, OpenText Content Server, and URLs on an internet or intranet.
What JD Edwards versions are supported?
EZsuite products work with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne versions 9.0, 9.1 and 9.2.
